Catalogue Update: Earthing Sets Now Quoted from 0.4 kV to 500 kV

October 27, 2026 3 min readNews & Updates

The three-phase short-circuit earthing set is now quoted on one class line — 0.4 kV to 500 kV — with oxygen-free copper from 16 to 50 mm². What changed, and what the kV does not tell you.

The three-phase short-circuit earthing set on this site is now quoted on one voltage-class line: 0.4 kV, 10 kV, 35 kV, 110 kV, 220 kV, 330 kV and 500 kV. One product page, one set of conductor and clamp options, the class picked off that line. The page was updated on 20 October 2026.

What sits behind the line:

  • Oxygen-free copper conductor in 16, 25, 35 and 50 mm²
  • Die-cast aluminium screw clamp, 35 mm jaw, double-bolt connection
  • Epoxy resin sectional insulating rod, 500 mm body
  • Earth rod, ground wire set and insulating operating rod in the set, canvas bag
  • MOQ one set

The kV is not a rating

This is the part that trips buyers up, and it is worth two minutes.

IEC 61230 does not give earthing equipment a rated voltage. The standard expresses withstand capability as rated values of current, time and peak factor — the electro-dynamic and electro-thermal effects acting during a short circuit. Voltage comes in through the insulation and the physical dimensions of the equipment, not as a headline number.

So a set offered for 500 kV is not a set that withstands 500 kV of fault current. It is a set built for a 500 kV installation. What it can actually take is decided by the prospective fault current at the point of work and how long the protection upstream takes to clear it.

What to send with an enquiry

  • The prospective fault current at the point of work
  • The clearing time of the protection upstream
  • The conductor size at the point of work
  • The voltage class of the installation — this one sets geometry and insulation, not the current rating

Send those four and the set can be quoted properly. Send only the voltage and we will have to come back and ask, which costs you a day.
